"Red Desert Sea" was strongly influenced by my time spent working with Anangu artists from Australia's central desert and south to the Great Australian Bight. This painting weaves together the creatures that long ago inhabited this region's vast inland sea and Southern Ocean, with the array of uniquely adapted native animals that live in what is now red desert. Sadly, colonisation also introduced many feral species.
With continued climate change, perhaps it just a matter of time before the elephants, monkeys and giraffes arrive.
